Consigning Women first opened in the Avondale neighborhood, just across the Ashley river from historic Charleston, SC in 1989.
One of the first consignment shops in Charleston, Consigning Women quickly became the go-to place for women to consign and shop. Ann Gadsden Shimer purchased the business in 1994 and set about to liven it up.
She brought her boundless energy and easy-going personality to the business and transformed it into the favorite consignment destination for women in Charleston, Mount Pleasant, James Island, Johns Island, Kiawah and Seabrook. In 2010, Ann opened Consigning Women & Men in Mount Pleasant, SC offering womens and mens consignments. Now, with two locations in the Lowcountry, Ann has realized her vision of eco-smart consignment shopping in comfortable, organized and chic stores.
