Since 1991, we have been committed to providing the finest and largest selection of 1820?s – 1920?s formal furniture in Pennsylvania.
The husband and wife team of Ellen Hughes and George Thompson moved from Fairbanks, Alaska to Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1989 to pursue their dream of opening a ‘not your typical antique shop’. Collectors since childhood, they began their antique business part-time at a local co-op with an emphasis on fine furniture. As their inventory and knowledge grew, they purchased a large commercial building in the historic district of Carlisle. Since 1991, they have been committed to providing the finest and largest selection of 1820?s – 1920?s formal furniture in southcentral Pa.
Emphasis on education is an important factor at Antiques on Hanover Street. George and Ellen believe in sharing knowledge and expertise, to assist their customers in choosing that one perfect piece of furniture or refine a growing collection. They have been featured in several regional magazines and have won awards for offering unique and fine furnishings.
